Gospel Day on Ebeye

So it turns out that being a stay at home mom doesn't leave much time for blogging!  Between taking care of the little boys, getting the house clean for the inspection, and packing up the last few things, I just haven't had the chance to post anything.
I'm really enjoying being home during the day with Water and Earth and while I'm a little nervous about how things will go when Fire is home too, I looking forward to having him home with me as well.
We've been trying to see as much of our Ebeye family as possible during these last few weeks and we headed over last Sunday to watch the dances for Gospel Day, a national holiday that celebrates the missionaries that first brought the gospel to the islands.  We've gone before and but this year was a little more special because Mama Lila danced in a jepta (chapter)!

Mama told me afterward that she never went to any of the practices- she just put on her white dress and showed up that day!

This jepta is called "Special Forces" and while I didn't get to see much of their dance, I think they had the best leader of all the jeptas- check out the little boy blowing his whistle and directing the dancing.  Mama said he's only 3!

  1. What a beautiful tradition! I love how the kids and the adults were able to interact and join along in the fun. So glad I discovered your blog. There's so much discovery and culture that you put into these posts that it makes me want to travel everywhere and discover these sights and cultures too!

Congratulations on becoming a stay-at-home-mom. As a fellow newbie to the world, I can totally relate to the misconception of having much more time than you have. I discovered this early on after I resigned from my 7 year post as a teacher last April. Time is definitely allocated a lot more differently than before.

It was lovely to see you on #SHINEbloghop this week. Thanks for sharing this with us :)
