Four Years

D and I in the fall of 04; I think we'd been dating for about a month.
I was 25 and he was 28.

It took me a little while to figure out why there weren't any pictures of D and I in 05 and then it dawned on me... we weren't anywhere near each other in 05.  He was in Antarctica and I was in Nebraska.  For some reason, even though we were living together and on the same continent for most of the year, there's only one picture of us together in 06...

Our engagement photo, taken at my brother's handfasting
ceremony in May of 06

There it was, the one photo of us together taken in 06.  D was in school that year and then spent the summer working on the icebreakers in Antarctica.  That might have something to do with it...

D and I at Pike's Peak the summer before we got married

Our wedding day!
This is one of my favorite pictures ever.  I think this is when I stop looking so young to myself in the pictures too.  I was 28 and D was 31 when we got married.

At a sushi restaurant in Japan in 10, still just the two of us...

This is one of the few pictures we have of the three of us from our days
in Kansas.I think we were just too overwhelmed to even think of it.
If you look closely, those shirts actually say, "We're new at this"!

D and I, taken last week, before our date to a Mongolian-style BBQ
at the Vet's Hall.   I think we clean up pretty well
(and no, D's not shrinking,I'm wearing high heels).

D and I have been married for four years and together for seven.  Honestly, it feels like it's been so much longer, and I mean that in the best way possible.  When he wished me Happy Aniversary the other day (yup, folks, he remembered before I did!), I remember thinking, "Really, only four years?  It feels like we've been together forever".  Happily, we're that cliche.  There have been a lot of ups and downs but when we both thought about what we would change, the only thing we came up with was changing certian aspects of our trip to Japan last year.  Things went really badly and we came pretty close to our limits on that trip, but we were able to work things out and I think we're a bit better for it. But that was it, only one thing, and we both thought of the same thing.  Looks like we really are stuck with each other!
I love you so much D and I can't wait to spend the next 50 years with you!
