High Five for Friday #27: This and That
High Five, friends! I'm all over the place today- this week has been so full of ups and downs that it's hard to wrap it all up. Here are a few things that have happened, will happen, and won't be happening:

Today's the day! D flies back in from the States and we are so excited to have him back! (Is that enough exclamation points? I'm not sure two is enough to express how great it will be to have D home. Life's just better when we're all together).

These ladies deserve their own high five! I would never have made it through the last two and half weeks without my friends. They've helped with dinner time, provided much-needed distractions, and given me the encouragement I needed to get through.

Decisions, decisions.
Hopefully we'll hear something this week that will let us choose between these two. Is that too vague? Sorry about that, my friends, but with the odd work/life relationship here, I can't say much more

Look who decided that he was done with training wheels!
Fire's been ready for a while but finally told me to take them off one night this week. I'm so proud of him!

The Columbus Day Run is this weekend and for the first time in 5 years, D and I aren't doing it. I'm a little sad since this has been a family tradition but between illness, injury, and travel neither of us have had the time to train for it. The picture above is from last year's run and this post has the pictures from the rest of them. Maybe next year we'll be doing it with two double joggers?

Hello, My name is Christian Small. I wanted to share my story of how your Blog and God's use of it has redirected my life. This will be the short version.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, I lived on Kwaj. Back in January I Googled Kwajalein to share a part of my youth with my 23 year old daughter. Somehow, I was redirected to Ebeye. As I read more about the Island my heart became involved with helping in some way. I started researching ways to help and landed on your Blog. Through your Blog I found Cheryle Johnson and the IMC tuition program. After communicating with Cheryle, I decided to sponsor a child. Then I got my church involved which is big on supporting missions and they agreed to support this one and we were able to run funds through our non-profit status. At this point we now sponsor 5 children's yearly tuition and am in the process of sponsoring 3 or 4 more. God was not done with me yet, and long story short my sister and I, after 48 years returned to Kwaj and missioned on Ebeye for two weeks in September. I was able to meet 4 of my five sponsored children and helped with the construction of 4 new classrooms at the SDA school. Fell in love with the people there and am now in the process of returning in January for about 5 weeks to continue on this God directed journey.
In any case, I thought compelled to share how a few clicks of my mouse, a random blog, and an email address has forever changed my life.

Hi Christian! What an amazing story- thank you so much for sharing it with me. I'm so glad, over the moon, that my little blog led you to an opportunity to help children on Ebeye. I wish I'd known that you were coming because I would have loved to meet you and say thank you in person. I can't tell you how much your sponsorship means to those children and their families.
