A Phoenix/Tucson Stay-cation
Some very good friends of D were in Phoenix last weekend so we decided that he should take a few days off and that we'd make it a long weekend stay-cation.
On Wednesday afternoon we loaded up the boys, picked Sky up from school and headed up to Legoland in Phoenix
Water wanted a picture of himself with the bat-signal
Earth went swimming in legos and Sky was in sensory heaven just running her hands through them
These were a little more Earth's size
Racing cars
All the boys
Sky building in the Lego friends area
Before the 4D movie
My biggest babies, tired after a long day
On Thursday, D took Sky, Fire, and Water to the Desert Museum while Earth and I met friends for a playdate. We all brought chalk and snacks and spent the morning spreading cheer on each others driveways
On Friday morning we headed back up to Phoenix to see the new aquarium
We had some great Mexican food for lunch and then some ice cream and cookies to fortify us for the drive back home
On Saturday we had soccer
and gymnastics in the morning then we stopped at the clubhouse for the Rodeo Days celebration.
Fire and a friend got their faces painted
Fire tried the bucking bronco
The petting zoo was a big hit
Sky and Fire loved this racing inflatable (sorry for the blurry action shot!)
We celebrated Sky's family day on Saturday afternoon and then after church on Sunday, D took me out to see Hidden Figures for my birthday
(What an amazing movie! It's the best I've seen in a long time and I can't wait to see it again)
We know we're not going to live here for the rest of our lives so we're making the most of it now. I've always loved exploring the town I'm living in and finding all the fun parts, although this is the first time we've done a real stay-cation.
Do you do stay-cations or save it up for a big getaway?
