Five for Friday #32: Favorites of the Week

Happy Friday, friends!  How was your week?  Ours was a little rocky in the middle (D was gone for work for two days) but great overall and we're all looking forward to the weekend. It's a bit of a random list but here are a few of my favorite things from this week:

I found this shelf for half off at World Market and it fits perfectly in the kids bathroom. I missed having nice things while we lived on Kwaj and it feels really good to find things that are both useful and artful for our new house.

This girl!  She doesn't like having her picture taken but I was able to snap this one while we were out shopping last weekend.  I love how this captures here beautiful smile and her sassy personality

Water and Earth are my constant companions now that I'm staying home and that means they usually make the grocery store runs with me.  Water was really fussy when we went this week and at the time, I couldn't figure out what was wrong.  This is what I saw when I got the cart out to the truck:

Guess he was hungry!

The landscapers are done in the back yard!  We have a larger patio and a big astro-turfed area where the new swing set will be installed.  Although Sky helped pick it out, none of the kids know that it's going to be put in today.  I can't wait for them to see it!  It will be so great for them to have an outdoor space to play in here at the house- something we've always wanted for our very active kids and weren't able to have on Kwaj.

There's a lot going on in the picture but look for the gray tape player up on the half wall.  It's playing a tape of the story of Sleeping Beauty that I used to listen to when I was Sky's age.  Last night in a moment of frustration Sky rubbed her eyes red and needed something to do that would help her rest them. I immediately thought of the old tapes I'd recently unpacked and got her set up to listen to one.  Both she and Fire loved it!  It melted my heart to see my kids enjoying the same thing that I did when I was little.

Look at that sweet baby's smile!  Earth is a really happy baby and he's always smiling and babbling these days.  The other thing that makes me happy is the swaddle he's wearing.  It's held shut with Velcro tabs and has been instrumental in helping Earth sleep through the night.  Before I found this, I would have to get up 3-4 times every night to re-swaddle him when he kicked himself free.  Now, he's snug and happy and is usually able to put himself back to sleep if he wakes up in the night, which means that I'm sleeping better too.
