Potty Training

Sky's big girl panties arrived in the mail yesterday and she's wearing them to school for the first time today.  Just in case, she has four changes of clothes in her back pack.  Her teacher, the fabulous Ms Carmen, thinks Sky is ready and since she's been teaching 2-3 year olds for twenty years, we're going to defer to her judegment.  Sky has been doing great at school but seems to forget all about potty training at home.  Wish us luck!

  1. Hi Amber (and David & Ciela) -

I'm a regular reader of your blog but am usually reading on my phone during my bus commute. Consequently, I don't get the option to comment very often.

My husband and I adopted our daughter from the RMI in May 2011. She is approaching her first birthday and I'm busy planning her Kemem. (Any suggestions you might have, I'm all ears... or eyes as the case may be!)

I just wanted to say hello and tell you how much I enjoy reading your stories. Hearing about your adventures makes me miss the islands a bit less.

    Take care!
    Claire

    1. Hi Claire,
Nice to "meet" you. I'm glad you enjoy the blog, and congratulations on your adoption!
I wish I could tell you more about kemem's but I've only been to one and I don't know how authentic it was. I can tell you that they are BIG deals and that lots of people will hire bands and dances and that there is LOTS of food. Also, the kemem that I was at, the Marshallese folks there stood in a line and sang a special song (sorry, it was in Marshallese and the video I got of it was awful). After they sang, each person gave the baby a kis and wished her happy birthday and left a little money for the family.
I hope that helps and I hope you're having a good commute!
      Amber
